The Maenllwyd Inn Rudry is a fine stone building
dating back some400 years and was in fact in my
mothers family for 200 years. It was a farm house
with stables and later turned into a alehouse.
It was also owned by the Earl of Plymouth in the
1800s.
It  boasts of two ghosts, the main sighting is of
a legless cavalier, but that could be the
observer being legless himself through too
much Welsh ale!?
As you can see this is a fine example of a true
country Inn,, with low beamed ceilings low
lighting, and candles on the tables  ,it is open
all day, and is very popular with locals and
people from far and wide.

The Rudry Village Inn was once run  by my Great
Grandmother.
It was then called The Rudry Hotel, however
known locally as  The Monte. Short for Monte
Carlo, because of the gambling that took place
there.
Today people still refere to it as "The Monte"
The Rudry Village Inn is situated in the heart of
the village
It has been extensivley refurbished during the
past few years by the present owners
Anne-Marie and Colin Wheeler
The lounge and dining area is pleasantly
furnished with an abundance of orniments and
pictures .

RUDRY PARISH CHURCH
around 1000years old.
Oliver Cromwell took refuge in the porch of the
Church.
I sang here as a choir boy many years ago.
My ancestors a buried here, and just where I am
standing to take this photo is where my father is
buried
